Comic 155: Stairway to Heaven

Yeah, so I've been having writer's block for a while now. I'd say the last comic with any actually good writing was 138, and I didn't even come up with it. I'd love to put my comic on hiatus, but I don't update enough for that to make any impact at all, and I'm sure I'd regret it immediately after doing it.

I've said this time and time again. The problem with this comic is that it's based off of my life. I frequently get people messaging me on AIM who want to start up their own webcomics, and they almost always ask for advice. So here's the best advice I can give you: Don't base your comic off your life.

You can't make your characters do anything they wouldn't do. They're based off of real people. They can't develop relationships that would fit to any sort of plot or amusement. They can't go places you haven't been. There aren't any story arcs in real life. It's damn near impossible to write for your friends unless it's dialog taken directly from real life conversation. And if your life is as dull and drab as my life has gotten these past couple months, then eventually your comic will only appear to the kinds of readers who you don't want reading your shit in the first place. It just. Doesn't. Work.

And then you'll pull something like this, and everyone will be really supportive. And you'll wonder if they know what the term "hiatus" means.

Also, this title was coming eventually. You all had to see it coming. Stupid frog.
